Day six: Tanikely and wet rides

8 oktober 2023 - Andoany, Madagaskar

Today is the day of my first weekend trip here. I am so excited!! I signed up to go to Tanikely. This is a reserve island (so protected and nobody lives there).

To get there we first had to get to Hellville by boat. The boat ride made me COMPLETELY drenched. And the sun wasn't shining yet, soooo I didn't really dry :')

In Hellville we went to the cafe (Casa Mofo) to afterwards get the tuk tuk back to the port. I went with Andrea (a nice older lady), but we ended op on another side of the port and didn't know where to go and some people were just harassing us, so I called a coordinator to let her know we were on our way and we made it back. Very chaotic hahaha.

There we payed Eric and got on a boat to Tanikely! When we were there it was time to drop our stuff and starr snorkling. We got a boat to drop us off at a nice spot and dropped in the water there. It was amazing. Mind boggling. Incredible. Just indescribable. I already heard great stories from divers that had gone to the great barrier reef and everything who said this was just next level. The dive instructer here cried the first time she dove here because of how healthy the reef is. And they weren't lying. It was a complete different world, magical. I got completely lost in it, it was so nice and calming to just float there with all the amazing creatures. Every time I would just wander off, entranced by this world and have to remember to look for other people, I kept losing sight of them, but how could I not. It seemed never ending, so much beautiful corals. All different shapes and sizes and colours. All different fish, different colours, sizes, behaviour, everything. I also swam with so manny different turtles (who were peacefully nibbling on some corals). And sea cucumbers everywhere. Also some beautiful sponges (they were purple :) ). Swimming with fins is amazing btw! Love it.

After quite some time we got out and explored the island for a bit. There were so many lizards (the same kind) there! We also saw two lemurs in a tree! We went up to the light house, which was nice, with a beautiful view.

Then we went back down to wait on lunch, which was included. And of course some banana's as dessert (always).

Afterwards I went snorkeling again, ofcourse!!! I didn't bring my camera this time, sadly. But it was even more amazing. Sooo many different fish, some turtles, I even met a Nemo family. It was a little clownfish family (also a small one) with their anemone. It was so adorable!! It is so amazing and touching (I can't even come close to explaining) to be part of that world. And to see that is still exists. But also frustration and motevation over the fact that it's disappearing. I wish everyone could experience it, but I know that at this rate, there is a possibility no one ever really could again.

After snorkling I listened to some music, collected some shells and then it was time to go again. The boat ride back was VERY wet again, but nice. I like boats and just the sea. We first went to Hellville, dropped people off that were going to "party town" and picked some people off, and off we went to camp. It was very nice and quite with such a small group. Very nice and welcome to have some peace and quite. We ate dinner together, all did our own things and went to bed. Nice and simple, nice and quite. With amazing experiences now part of me

Logisch dat je weg kwijt raakt met al dat mooie onderwater, maar net als met duiken zorg dat je minstens met zn 2en bij elkaar blijft. De zee blijft natuur en kan gevaarlijk zijn.
